What are flannel bed sheets ?

Flannel bed sheets are made of flannel,  the word is derived from the Welsh language, meaning wool, but is usually cotton cloth that is napped on the sides to imitate wool flannel. Flannel is usually made from cotton, a cotton blend, or wool and has a very soft hand, brushed fabric that creates a soft, fuzzy surface. The brushing creates insulating air cells that have more warmth than plain cotton. That is why I use flannel bed sheets in the winter time, they are just plain cozy warm and comforting to crawl into and to catch that last snooze before rolling out of bed.

I noticed that I still had my flannel bed sheets on the bed this morning and I have matching flannel plaid pillowcases and both color coordinate well with the handmade quilt. The whole bedroom decor really started with the flannel bed set, and grew from there.  If you have never tried flannel bed sheets or flannel duvet covers, you really are missing one of the secrets of luxury bedding.

I really must point out that my dog prefers flannel bed sheets over a sateen sheet, even most of the summer too.  We live in the great northwest so we are on the cool side most of the year.  Flannel bed sheets may not have the same appeal in Arizona, but heh! you can always turn up the air conditioner and feel real cozy.
