Comforter & Duvet Cover Bedding
tips
Comforter sets and the duvet cover in them
vary in quality of design and construction. Better comforter
sets have high quality filling and prevent the down from
shifting using compartments that are of baffle box design
meaning that the down comforter has internal three dimension
fabric wall boxes allowing more thickness and comfort while
maintaining even distribution of down within the boxes, this
will minimize migration of fill for maximum comfort.
Others are stitched through which gives more puffiness in
appearance but the loft is usually less. Premium duvet covers
will have a higher thread count which can help keep the
feathers out of your bed. Down is the best insulation, goose
down is better than duck down because it can trap more air in
the comforter.
The weight of
down in a comforter will normally indicate the warmth the
comforter set will have but remember loft is just as important.
To keep the down inside minimum of 220 threads per square of
100% cotton is used in the construction of the comforter sets
and the duvet cover. Cotton is also used to improve breath
ability.
Comforter sets and duvet cover cleaning methods
There are different processes used to clean down in
comforter sets for those with allergies. one called ALLERNON
21™ which puts the down through 12 washing cycles and then
electronically cleans by a process called ozonization to remove
any remaining microbial matter.
Another process is called Hyperclean® which washes and
rinses the down up to eight times. The duvet cover can usually
be washed at home along your sheets. Using comforter sets
protected by a duvet cover your comforter will only need to be
cleaned every three to five years and you don't need a top
sheet, blanket, or bedspread.
