Bed linens with high thread count are typical of luxury bedding sheets, duvets, and pillows

Bed linens of all types from sheets to comforters and duvet covets are made out of similar fabric. Cotton is usually preferred because of its breath ability, this is especially true with down comforters, so the down won't mold. The thread count is the number of threads per square inch it is an indication of quality, with 180 on the low end and 500 to 600 being used in the luxury bedding. Bed linens also may use polyester mixed with cotton, this adds durability but cuts back on that breath ability that I personally require. When I think of luxury bedding, I think of satin.

Bed linens come in a variety of styles, configurations and quality, from discount bedding to luxury bedding, your choice

Satin bed linens are made of satin polyester and sometimes an acetate, which require special handling, no hot dryer, no hot irons. Satin luxury bedding includes; bed skirts, dust ruffles, sheet Sets with both fitted sheets and flat sheets, comforters, duvet covers, pillow cases, and pillow shams.

If you own one of the newer pillow top mattresses, made sure your bed linens come with deep pocket sheets, usually 18" instead of 13-14" pockets. You will avoid the rush to get your corner of the sheet on the mattress first so you can watch your spouse struggle with their corner.
